Looking for a way to build connections and relationships with the people that live in your building? The Scholars Program is designed to help you get to know other residents who are interested in sharing opportunities to grow and learn together. Pres House offers a limited number of scholarships for residents of PH Apartments who agree to a specific level of engagement and participation in activities focused on the values of PH Apartments.
Students selected for this program must sign an individual (not group) lease, agree to actively support the PH Apartment values, and to participate in 4 Scholars Program events and 2 building-wide events per semester (additional optional events may also be offered). The activities will be designed to benefit you and build community and friendship among program participants.
- An opening luncheon to get acquainted
- A service project in Madison
- A fall trip to a corn maze
- A cooking contest for PH Apartment residents
- A conversation with Dean Berquam
- A documentary and discussion
- And more…
We don’t want the cost of the PH Apartments to prohibit you from living here or participating in the Pres House Scholars Program. Rent scholarships are available for residents who sign an individual lease (not for residents who are part of a group lease for a full apartment).
If you do not need a scholarship to live at PH Apartments, please consider leaving the scholarships for other students who do.
How do I apply?

The PH Apartments Scholars is a small group with big ideas. The best way to get to know your community!
The PH Apartments scholars program has been a great opportunity for me to meet new people and further enjoy the diversity of the UW Madison campus. The events are relatable and fun for all involved. My favorite one was the presidential debate viewing because I learned how to discuss politics without fear of disapproval or conflict. I can’t wait until next semester’s events!
The PH Apartment Scholars Program offered me a way to connect with students I live with as an upper classman as well as connect with other people who want to be active in the community around us. Being the leader of the Scholars Program has given me opportunities to be creative with leadership. Also it’s provided a different perspective on what collaboration can look like; that people getting financial benefits can still be engaged with their hearts and minds.
